Visiting Our Contest

The contest is based at the White Hart Inn, Lydgate. If you're reaching us by car, please note that the car park will be inaccessible and you may need to find off-road car parking along Oldham Road. If you're reaching us by bus, we're based on the 184 bus route between Oldham and Huddersfield. If you're reaching us by train, the nearest train station is Greenfield which is 1.5 miles away.

The Whit Friday Contests have often been described as The Greatest Free Show on Earth, and we still are!

To spectate is free, however we'd love your support either by a small donation on the day or at one of our year-round fundraising events such as our monthly quiz night at the White Hart or other events like our annual Race Night.

Of course - our friendly hosts at the White Hart will have plenty of food and drink available throughout the event. The menu caters to most dietary restrictions.

We're a family event and cater to families of all shapes and sizes! We're very proud that most of our board carriers are pupils at St. Anne's Primary School. Families can choose to be outside in the main spectating area or come inside, where the bands are still audible. Seating is available both inside and outside.

If your child is performing in a band, the Saddleworth area contests will collect all BOPA data at registration.

There will be limited disabled parking available at the White Hart Inn. Please get in touch with them first to confirm the parking arrangements at  01457 872566
